Bye-Bye-Sunnydale-High Buffy & Mayor Wilkins (July 2006) For those unfamiliar with customising, the pale pink stuff is the colour of the 'super sculpey' sculpting clay that I put over the plastic figures. It can be translucent, so you can often see the original colour of the figure underneath. Once I've finished sculpting, I always completely repaint the whole figure. The Library Diamond Select Toys came out with a Sunnydale Library playset. I couldn't resist buying it but I don't really have any figures to display in it (I'm not a collector). I decided to get the hack saw out instead! Mwahahaha! I cut the library set down to the ground level only. I wanted the whole custom to fit back into the original box for postage, so the Mayor's head is sliding low to the ground, rather than raised. I repainted the wood in the library so that it didn't look so shiny. The in-progress photos show stumps of the upper floor railings. I got rid of them, in the end. Sculpting the Mayor I sculpted him from scratch, using part of an X-Files pod chamber and a baby's bottle to bulk it out. Even so, I used 2 lbs of super sculpey on him! I used 14 of Buffy's stakes to make his teeth. I took some in progress photos. After taking the final photo in profile, I realised that his outer horns looked a bit like bunny ears. I trimmed them down before painting him.
Buffy Sculpt I took quite a chance with this one because I wasn't sure I could get her to stand up, once she was finished. I wanted her to be on one foot, really bent over running. After sculpting her, I drilled a hole in the stand and pushed up a small screw, which I then screwed into the hole in her heel. It worked. She's been standing like this successfully for 3 days. I intend to keep the set for a few weeks to admire and make sure Buffy still balances, before sending it to the buyer.
Accessories I made the fuel drums out of black cotton bobbins. I painted them and glued on hazard triangles. I used chopped up weapons to make the dynamite and some microphone wire. I searched eBay for a photo of a predominantly white fertilizer bag, then printed out many copies onto plain paper. I taped together 2 pieces with magic tape, with some bubble wrap inside to bulk it out. Finished Set
