SMG Calendar Girls (November 2004 - September 2006)

For those unfamiliar with customising, the pale pink stuff is the colour of the 'super sculpey' sculpting clay that I put over the plastic figures. It can be translucent, so you can often see the original colour of the figure underneath. Once I've finished sculpting, I always completely repaint the whole figure.

Sarah Michelle Gellar did a calendar photo shoot for Esquire Magazine in 2004. They were innocently sexy cheesecake shots... ideal for customs. I've made several of them over the years. I'm showing them all here, some with work-in-progress photos.

Miss September - 40's-Siren Sarah Michelle Gellar

I think SMG looks like Lana Turner in this outfit, so I called her a 40's siren.

Made September 2006. Thanks to Moore Action Collectibles and Diamond Select Toys for the parts.

I flipped the pose around to suit the parts. I turned a Cordy stand around to make the base. It rests at a 30 degree angle. I changed the position of the legs to be less bent, which suited the Anyanka legs better, although I did slice the knees and bend them a little.

I made the sculpt in two parts which slot into the stand. The parts joint at the waist. I used the parts as a guide then changed the body position into a more natural twist using sculpey.

Here is the finished sculpt. I added a little more meat to those skinny Anyanka legs. I sploshed some flesh coloured paint on her fleshy parts to make sure the sculpt was smooth. It showed up some bumps, so I sanded and repainted for the photo. The second photo shows the undercoats painted.

After painting the undercoat, I painted highlights over her hair. I used black pen for her pupils and eyelashes. I used dark red metallic pen on her lips. I put a opalescent sheen over her white gown. Then I added highlights to her hair with gold pen. I added glints in her eyes with silver pen. I painted inside her lip line.

I folded a piece of white paper for her letter and glued it to her hand. I'm pleased with her pose, although she's not in exactly the same position as the reference photo. I think she looks even more languid here and her face looks like she's having sensual thoughts.

Miss July - Beach-Babe Sarah Michelle Gellar

September 2006. Thanks to Moore Action Collectibles, DST & Art Asylum for the parts.

I used a deluxe Buffy head, Wedding Anya torso and arms with Anyanka legs. The beach rock came with a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon figure.

I added a little meat to those skinny Anyanka legs again and sculpted the shoes. I then sculpted the hips and waist. Once I had her in position, I sculpted the towel and her hair cascading over the edge of the rock. I painted her face and hair, using gold pen for highlights, then glued her right arm into position.

Miss February - Saucy-Valentine Sarah Michelle Gellar

Made February 2006. Thanks to DST, Moore Action Collectibles and SOTA Toys for the parts.

I was scared to make this tricky pose, so I knew I had to do it and expand my skills. I used a deluxe Buffy head, Anya torso and Paige legs.

I removed the hair. I sculpted loose curls and painted her sweetheart makeup. I added some cleavage to the torso, then sculpted the waist and hips. I adjusted her elbow joints to get her hands in position. I chopped off the feet and put metal pins in the heels. I sculpted the feet and shoes from scratch. It was difficult because she had to balance on them. I made the heart from card and a photo of the magazine shot. Only the buyer knows what's behind the heart!

I photographed her against white paper and then bleached out the background for the main photo.

Miss December - Sexy Santa Sarah Michelle Gellar

Made November 2004. Thanks to Moore Action Collectibles and Diamond Select for the parts.

It was tempting to recreate because the Anyanka legs were perfect (when the photo was mirrored). I also used a Buffy 2 head, Vamp Willow torso and Wedding Anya arms.

I removed the hair and sculpted the new hair and hat. I removed the frill from the bosom and then sculpted the bra and sexy santa suit. I chopped her left arm at the bicep and reattached it at a different angle. I also sculpted the present for her to hold.
