Yellow-Crayon Willow & Xander with Proserpexa's Effigy (May 2007)

For those unfamiliar with customising, the pale pink stuff is the colour of the 'super sculpey' sculpting clay that I put over the plastic figures. It can be translucent, so you can often see the original colour of the figure underneath. Once I've finished sculpting, I always completely repaint the whole figure.

I made Willow & Xander as a pair for the "Grave" episode, where they have a show-down next to the Temple of Proserpexa.

May 2007. Thanks to Moore Action Collectibles, Diamond Select Toys, McFarlane & Plastic Fantasy for the parts.

Proserpexa's Temple

I was commissioned to make Willow & Xander but I fancied making Proserpexa as well. I had some 7" scale, oddly shaped and rather scary Plastic Fantasy figures which turned out to be a great base for the demon. I used a Vampire Spike face with parts from Chloe and Devinn.

I used two of the Magic Box blue cabinets to make the temple. I added sculpey for the stone detail. I removed the hands and repositioned the arms. I then sculpted over Spike's face to make it bigger and in scale with the body. I put sculpey over the entire body give it some demon-y texture, then sculpted the claws, hooves and snaky hair. I then sculpted the large snake, strategically placed around the body.

I shaped the bottom of the temple and the stones around her feet to slot in next to each other and attach to Willow and Xander's stand.

I painted Proserpexa mostly pinkish but with some residual red and orange glow from Willow's magic.

Willow & Xander

I decided that the hugging moment was the most poignant of the whole "yellow crayon" scene. I based the figures on this photo.

For Willow, I used a Dark Willow figure with Paige's clenched fists. For Xander, I used a Xander figure with Spike hands and Jayne feet.

I sculpted both figures from the feet up. To get the correct kneeling pose, I sculpted Willow's thighs and Xander's legs/hips from scratch. I sculpted over both torsos, then sculpted their hair, being careful to make sure they still slotted together at all times.

I made Willow and Xander separately, so that I could paint them before gluing them together. Willow is whole; Xander's arms are separate pieces and fit on last. The arms were extremely tricky to get right. I sculpted all the arms from scratch.

I painted both Willow and Xander with their eyes screwed tight closed and tears on their cheeks. I painted Willow's hair changing back to redhead, but with some evil black still at the tips.

I glued them to each other and to the stand. I repainted the grassy stand as a muddy bluff.
