Chaos-Worshipping-Sorcerer Ethan Rayne Custom (August 2007)

For those unfamiliar with customising, the pale pink stuff is the colour of the 'super sculpey' sculpting clay that I put over the plastic figures. It can be translucent, so you can often see the original colour of the figure underneath. Once I've finished sculpting, I always completely repaint the whole figure.

This was my final "Halloween" piece (for now, anyway). I made Ethan Rayne as a commission.

Light-Up Base

I made a light-up base. I used a camping light, like the one WillowsWarlock used recently. I took off the base and put it on top with some holes drilled through. I then covered it in card. I made some candle moulds and cast them in yellow/orange clear plastic. I stuck them to the base and painted them so that only the flames remained clear.

Statue of Janus

I made the 2-faced Roman God Janus from scratch. I sculpted one side as a bearded old man and the other as a young man with long hair.

I painted the statue of Janus to look like stone and wrote on the stand "Janus! Sume noctem!". Trans. "Janus! Take the night!"

Ethan Figure

I used a Giles figure with a Professor Xavier head and hands, and Spike arms. I removed the lower legs and sculpted him in kneeling position. I raised his forehead and sculpted hair. I then sculpted his robes.

Thanks to MAC, DST and ToyBiz for the parts. Thanks to Miss Edith for the head recipe.

I painted the figure to look more like Ethan. He has blood markings on is forehead, eyelids and palms.

After painting him, I realised that I'd forgotten to sculpt the top prong of the red satin detail on his robe. I added it in sculpey and cured it with a hairdryer. It came out fine. Phew!
