Getting-Through-the-Night Buffy & Angel (June 2007) For those unfamiliar with customising, the pale pink stuff is the colour of the 'super sculpey' sculpting clay that I put over the plastic figures. It can be translucent, so you can often see the original colour of the figure underneath. Once I've finished sculpting, I always completely repaint the whole figure. I was commissioned to make Buffy and Angel in the cemetery from "Forever". Reference & Parts
Sculpt Everything takes a lot longer to sculpt these days, especially when there needs to be interlocking postures. This took 4 evenings. Admittedly, I was distracted by some good telly and I kept fiddle-arseing around getting the shapes to fit together. For the stand, I fused 3 grave-yard stands together. I added a tree from "Scary Tales". Don't ask me why it is orange! I used a Season 5 Angel. I removed Angel's pelvis and upper arms and put him in sitting position. I altered his hairline, then sculpted his shirt and coat. I used a Deluxe Buffy with Buffy 2 lower legs. I sculpted her abdomen and thighs from scratch. I sculpted her hair, jumper and long coat.
Paint After getting some feedback at BtVSFigs Forum, I removed the cross gravestone. Angel looked too relaxed to be sitting so close to a cross. I put a smaller stone in it's place, which also improved the composition. The forum members were also able to give me the exact dates for Joyce's gravestone. I didn't want them to be actually sitting on any graves, so the gravestones are all facing away from the figures.
I painted Buffy looking sad and Angel looking at her in concern.
