Halloween Customs (July/August 2007)

For those unfamiliar with customising, the pale pink stuff is the colour of the 'super sculpey' sculpting clay that I put over the plastic figures. It can be translucent, so you can often see the original colour of the figure underneath. Once I've finished sculpting, I always completely repaint the whole figure.

I got obsessed with the "Halloween" episode in July/August and made lots of customs.

Lady-of-Buffdom-Duchess-of-Buffonia Buffy

My muse doesn't enjoy making copies, but there are some exceptions. For customs that I made in 2003 or 2004, which weren't entirely successful, I am sometimes prepared to make new versions.

My first attempt at Duchess Buffy from 3-4 years ago was a bit clunky. I'd only just learned to sculpt and my painting skills were a lot less subtle. I thought it was time for a new one. I made her in the pre-spell scene, with an elaborate wig, rather than the long loose hair like before.

I used a prom Buffy with a deluxe head. I sculpted the dress and wig, then painted her looking to the left with a slight smile. She has a wooden floor stand and stand-up oval mirror.

Unexpected-Chivalry Xander & Cordy

I've never made a Xander/Cordy pair so this was a nice opportunity. It's a telling moment in "Halloween" when Xander make a chivalrous gesture towards Cordy.

Cordy: No kidding. I was just attacked by Jo-Jo, the Dog-Faced Boy. Look at my costume.

Xander (putting his shirt over her shoulders): Here.

Cordy (taken aback): Thanks!

For Xander, I used a DST Xander head, shirtless Spike body and punk Spike legs. I bulked up his legs and torso and sculpted his shirt and dog-tags. I sculpted over his arms to cover the articulation and make them a bit beefier. I removed his fringe and sculpted his high forehead and short hair, and painted his face to look more like Xander.

For Cordy, I used an Anyanka body with Cordy 1's head and arms. I sculpted the entire cat costume, ears, unitard, tail, boots and furry trim. I also resculpted her hair. I repositioned her arms, then sculpted the shirt over her shoulders. I painted her to look more like Cordy.

Mini-Busts

I also made this set of Halloween Mini-Busts.
