Family-Reunion Darla & Drusilla (March 2007) For those unfamiliar with customising, the pale pink stuff is the colour of the 'super sculpey' sculpting clay that I put over the plastic figures. It can be translucent, so you can often see the original colour of the figure underneath. Once I've finished sculpting, I always completely repaint the whole figure. I was commissioned to make the scene where Darla and Dru are reunited into their happy vampire family.
Sculpt For Darla, I used a Darla head, Anya body and Dawn legs. For Dru, I used a Dru head and Anya body. I made the Darla torso, legs and dress first, then the Dru torso, legs and dress, leaning in to fit. When they were in position, I fused them at the bosom and knees. I sculpted Dru's hair and her arms wrapped around Darla, then sculpted Darla's hair and arms. For both girls, I sculpted the upper arms from scratch, so that I could position them correctly.
Paint I painted them to look more like Darla and Dru. They both have their eyes closed and look moved. Dru has some tear stains on her cheeks. I painted the stand to look like the middle of a street.
